How long will the results last? Print E-mail

The results of stem cell assisted Lipotransfer are lasting because the injected stem cells will become part of the surrounding tissue and mature into adult fat cells. In other methods of own fat transfer, in which lesser amounts of stem cells are transplanted, the added volume will be degraded to some extent.

Which therapeutic applications are known? Print E-mail

Besides CAL a variety of regenerative treatments on various organs is possible by use of adult stem cells from body fat. However, the processing of the cells needs to be very specific. The regeneration of spinal discs offers a good example.

Can stem cell therapy lead to cancer? Print E-mail

The use of embryonic stem cells is accused of causing malignancies. With adult stem cells, this risk only exists if the cells are artificially expanded, differentiated or altered in the laboratory by use of various procedures including artificial growth factors. This is not the case with CAL and therefore experts agree that CAL bears no additional risk of cancer.

What is the difference between embryonic and adult stem cells? Print E-mail

It’s mainly the age and the source, which – in the case of embryonic stem cells – is embryonic tissue. Although embryonic stem cells have higher biological potency, their use is not only ethically questionable but also associated with a higher risk of malignancies (cancer). Therefore the patient will profit more from the use of his own stem cells, which can be expected to remain biologically highly potent up to high age.
