Transplanted fat will only last over a longer time, if it contains a high amount of undamaged, vital cells, notably stem cells. Therefore the correct, cell-sparing harvesting and processing of fat are essential for treatment success.

Normal fat transfer and cell-assisted lipotransfer (CAL)

The following methods are being employed at Clinic DDr. Heinrich:

Standard Lipostransfer
In standard Lipotransfer body-own fat from Liposuction will be implanted unprocessed. The content of stem cells remains unchanged. If this is done optimally and tissue-sparing, about 60 % of the transplanted volume will last over longer time. Therefore the procedure will have to be repeated.

Stem-cell-concentrated Lipotransfer
In stem-cell-concentrated Lipotransfer, fat will undergo a concentration process prior to implantation, by which the content of vital cells will be increased. If this is done optimally and tissue-sparing, about 70–80 % of the transplanted volume will last over longer time. Eventually the procedure will have to be repeated.

Stem-cell-assisted Lipotransfer
In stem-cell-assisted Lipotransfer (CAL) own fat is being enriched with the patient’s own stem cells in a complicated process – which has to be carried out in a special laboratory – and then implanted. This fat with its high amount of stem cells provides far longer lasting results than any other method in Lipotransfer. About 95 % of the transplanted volume will last over longer time. Therefore one single treatment will most likely be sufficient.
